It's perfect for anyone using one of those infant 'bucket' seats, especially if you're constantly clicking it in and out of a stroller. But look, it's not for everyone. If you live somewhere with mild winters or you've already graduated to a bigger convertible car seat, you can probably skip this one. It just won't fit those.

The big thing is safety. The Skip Hop cover drapes right over the top, so nothing gets between your baby's back and the car seat. That's exactly what car seat safety experts recommend. Then there’s the design itself. The elastic edge gives it a nice, snug fit on most infant seats, the outside material blocks wind and rain, and that soft fleece lining? It's just really cozy. Believe it or not, it's also machine-washable and takes literally seconds to put on.

Now, for the trade-offs, because it's not a magic bullet. There's no official warmth rating, so on super cold days, you'll still want to dress your baby in a few breathable layers underneath. Also, if they're in a really puffy snowsuit, the zipper can be a little snug to close—we found it's better to use thinner layers and let the cover handle the insulation. And here's the thing: if you have a really long baby, their toes might start touching the bottom around six months. It can also make the car seat's own sun canopy a little awkward to pull out, but that’s pretty common with these types of covers.
