Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Your Privacy Choices

Last Updated October 25, 2026

This page explains your right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information and of “targeted advertising,” and how to do it. It applies to all visitors in the United States, including residents of California and other states with privacy laws that grant these rights. For more detail, see our Privacy Policy.

What We “Sell” or “Share”

We don’t sell email addresses or other contact information to anyone, and we don’t use advertising pixels on our site. But state privacy laws define “sale” and “sharing” broadly. We use Google Analytics, which collects information such as:

  • your IP address and device and browser information;
  • cookie IDs;
  • the pages you view, including page URLs, and the links you click; and
  • your approximate location, based on your IP address.

Depending on settings, Google may also use this information for its own purposes, including advertising. Under California law and similar laws in other states, this may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We give everyone the choice to opt out.

How to Opt Out

  • Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC). Some browsers and browser extensions can send a GPC signal (learn more at https://globalprivacycontrol.org). When we detect a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, and we stop sending your information to Google Analytics from that browser.
  • Email us at privacy@trustadvocate.org with “Do Not Sell or Share” in the subject line. You don’t need to verify your identity or give us any information beyond what you choose to include. We’ll apply your request to any personal information we can connect to you, such as your email address. Because we don’t have accounts, we can’t link an email request to your browser, so please also use GPC on each browser and device you use.
  • Use Google’s opt-out tool. The Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) stops Google Analytics from collecting information about your visits on websites that use it.

What Happens After You Opt Out

  • We’ll honor your request within 15 business days. GPC signals take effect right away.
  • Opt-outs made with GPC or cookies apply only to the browser and device you used. If you switch browsers or devices, or clear your cookies, you’ll need to opt out again.
  • Affiliate links will still work. When you click a link to Amazon or another partner, you’re choosing to go to that partner’s website, and the partner and affiliate program will know you came from us so they can credit us.
  • Opting out doesn’t unsubscribe you from our newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email for that.
  • We may still use information for purposes that aren’t a sale or sharing, such as running and securing our site.

Authorized Agents

An authorized agent can submit an opt-out request for you by emailing privacy@trustadvocate.org. We may ask for written proof that you gave the agent permission.

Sensitive Personal Information

We don’t use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require a “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” option.
